Glitches

Posted on Thu May 4, 2017 @ 9:05pm by Captain Madelina Weisz & Lieutenant Martha Cusack

Mission: Avatar
Location: Lieutenant Cusack's Office
Timeline: MD 1 || 1410 Hours

Martha was busy in her office filing reports from the last few days which she'd read but not had the time to file away in the very particular order that she liked. There was quite a few although at least from a Tactical perspective her department had performed quite well seeing as they hadn't had a whole lot of time to gel together.

Once the backlog of filing was cleared Martha started to read over the mission report from the hostage retrieval situation with a freshly replicated cup of tea and a slice of Victoria sponge cake. The mission report had already been sent to Michael but Martha found it was useful to re-read them herself to double check that she'd picked up on any things she felt either she or the department needed to improve on.

On the holographic screen that made up the top of the Chief of Tactical's desk, the screen completely blacked out just as the reports were being filed. It didn't last long, but once the interface was clear again, the icons present were scattered across the screen, and those reports that had been given so much attention were now missing.

Martha groaned and immediately slumped onto the desk with her head buried in her hands. She'd worked hard enough to correctly sort the reports and then read through them and now they'd disappeared - whether it was a glitch or whatever it meant she'd have to get someone to have a look in the redundant memory core for the files. At least the key file - the mission report - had already been sent to the Captain and she could ask him for a copy.

"Oh come on...why are you doing this to me you stupid piece of crap?" Martha snarled.

No verbal response was forthcoming, though the interface on her desk began to flicker before blacking out once more. Sadly, this time, the screen didn't come back.

Martha groaned loudly as she tried to make the console work again. Whatever the issue was it required a visit from Engineering - and Martha didn't like having unnecessary visitors - although that was something she needed to bite her tongue on in more recent times.

=/\="Cusack to Commander Weisz. My computer's down - the whole thing. Is it just me or are any of the other computers on the ship playing up?"=/\= Martha said.

=^=I'm currently dealing with something similar, Lieutenant. Stand by.=^= Maddy ordered. Something wasn't right here, and she needed to find out what.

Martha nodded. =/\="Acknowledged"=/\=

To pass the time Martha ate her slice of cake and drunk her cup of tea. At least it wasn't just her - but the loss of the files she'd worked hard to organise was a big setback. Depending on the severity of the problem there was a chance the files could be recovered - but Martha wasn't going to get her hopes up.

Shortly after, a call from the Captain came through for a senior staff briefing immediately.

Martha decided to secure her terminal anyway - just in case it decided to come back to life - before getting herself another helping of tea in her trusty flask and making her way up to the briefing room. Whatever this briefing was Martha hoped it was going to at least lead to her finding out what the problem was.
