Meg left the tattoo parlor admiring the ink now on her arm. She had managed to find the crest of House Zorr and had shown it to the tattoo artist, who quickly transferred the image to her arm. It was nice, having a connection to her father.
Of course, she didn't know whether or not he would be proud as she had no clue how Klingons felt about tattoos, but she couldn't imagine that they'd find them weak or honorless. But, it made her feel connected to him all the same. She had no memories of him, so anything she could come up with seemed like a good idea to her.
She was so engrossed in her examination of the image that she didn't notice the other woman until she had almost run directly into her. "Oh, lo siento!" she exclaimed. "I should probably watch where I am going!"
Maddy blinked when the woman nearly ran into her. She wanted to be annoyed, but Meg had seemed to be deep in thought. The redhead would be forgiving this time around. "It's no big deal. Neither one of us were hurt," she said with a polite smile as she stepped out of the way. Her sweet tooth was begging her to torture it with sweet confections from Candy Craze, a candy store where there sweet treats were made by hand on a daily basis.
"Even so," said Meg, eyeing the other woman's hair. "My but your hair is gorgeous! I would kill for that color. Well, no I would not kill; that would be mad. But, you take my meaning."
"I do, and thank you," Maddy said with a genuine smile. "If you're interested, there's a salon and spa on this same deck. Ashley does amazing things. I think she's on leave right now since she's about to have her baby, but even her employees are the best."
"I will have to remember that," replied Meg with a grin of her own. "Although, I do not think that particular color would look quite right on me. I am Mar Megara, by the way, but most people call me Meg."
"Madeline Weisz," she said, extending a hand in Meg's direction. "I'm the ship's Executive Officer. I don't think you and I were formally introduced when you arrived on board. How are you enjoying your home away from home?" Of course, she chalked not meeting the woman up to some of their personnel going straight to the Captain for their formal introductions, and that was okay with her. She'd have the chance to meet them in time.
"This ship is amazing!" Meg replied, gesturing to the promenade level on which they stood. "I just got a tattoo!" she added, indicating the crest on her arm. "My mother will kill me, but it is too late. And the Sick Bay is amazing! And the crew I have met so far have been friendly. So, I suppose I am enjoying it, si!" And she grinned again, eyes sparkling.
Maddy couldn't help but smile and Meg's enthusiasm. "I'm going to the candy store, would you care to join me?" She asked, extending a hand in front of her. "The Triumphant is definitely a wonderful ship. I've been with her the last year and a half after the Captain's wife was placed on emergency leave. That was only meant to be a temporary assignment until it was decided she wouldn't be returning. So, now it's permanent."
"There is a candy store, too?" asked Meg excitedly. "Why was I not informed sooner? Let's go!"
"There are all sorts of places on this deck the crew appreciates," Maddy said with a smile as she walked with the other woman to the candy store. "Everything they make their is handmade, but I'm partial to the salt water taffy."
"Mmm," agreed Meg as they headed down the promenade. "I love salt water taffy. Oh, let's be honest, I love all candy. Chocolate, caramel, licorice- everything! You may not be able to get me out of there."
"Well... considering you're currently off duty, that's okay," the Commander said, turning into the candy store. It was like stepping into a little piece of heaven with candy everywhere. Maddy could live here forever.
"That is true," agreed Meg with a cheeky grin. "Either that or I have just wasted a couple of hours in the tattoo parlor and am in a lot of trouble!"
"I certainly hope not, otherwise, we'd be making a trip to my office instead of being here," the redhead stated, grabbing a bag from a stand by the door and opening it. With that done, she moved over to the floor to ceiling and wall to wall candy display and opened one of the individual candy cases, picking the scoop up so she could start filling her bag with taffy. "I really don't want to go back to my office, either."
Meg was too busy looking at everything to reply. They had everything here! If anyone was watching her, they would probably have laughed to see a part Klingon bug-eyed and licking her lips at all the candy lining the walls. "It goes all the way to the ceiling!" she said, amazed. "Oh! The raspberries! I love the raspberries!" She immediately got her own bag and added some raspberries to it.
"I told you they have a bit of everything," Maddy said, moving over to the brittle to put some of it into her bag. If she kept this up, she'd be leaving with a few bags, but then again, that would be a normal trip for her. Sadly, it never lasted long, and she would only make her way to the candy store in a few days. The owners knew her by name, and that was because of how often she visited.
"You weren't kidding!" she said, discovering a bin full of those colored licorices that she loved so much. She couldn't put them in the same bag, though; everything would taste like licorice. So, she grabbed a second bag and added some to it. "They are going to know me here in a week flat," she added.
"It doesn't take long for the shop owners to get to know everyone," the Commander said as she grabbed a few more bags to fill up, grabbing some things she knew Tom would like as well as Ava and little Mikey, and even some for the Captain and his wife. "If you ever have the chance to, and time permits, walking around deck ten is worth it."
"That is what I am doing today," Meg admitted, trying to decide whether to buy the jelly bean nougat or actually jelly beans. "Well, perhaps not all day, but part of it, for sure."
"It's worth it," Maddy said as she finished filling four bags before she brought them to the counter where an older woman was waiting with a smile. "Hi, Helen. I think I'm all done for today."
Helen offered the XO a smile as she began to weigh each of the bags, then entered the information into a PADD. Once that was done, she turned it toward Maddy to sign off on. "It's always nice to see you, Maddy."
Once she signed off on the PADD, the redhead woman grinned. "We see each other quite a bit. Tell Richard that I said hi, will you?"
"Of course, dear. We'll see you again soon," the shop owner said with a smile.
Maddy took her bag with the four smaller bags inside of it, then moved back over to Meg. "What were you looking at doing after this?"
"I have no plans," replied Meg, deciding to skip the gummy fruit slices for now; she had enough candy to last her for several weeks. "Except for wandering aimlessly and stopping anywhere that looks interesting."
"You'll definitely enjoy it. I'll see you soon. It was nice to meet you Meg," Maddy said with a smile. "We'll be seeing one another around for sure. Enjoy your down time."
"It was nice to meet you, too," Meg replied. "Thank you for showing me the candy shop! Oh, sorry," she added to the clerk, who was waiting patiently for her to hand over the candy so he could ring it up and she could transfer the credits.
