Strange Things Are Happening

Posted on Wed Nov 23, 2016 @ 1:23am by Lieutenant Commander Alex Rho

Mission: An Orion to Die For
Location: Intelligence Office Complex
Timeline: MD 3 || 0730 hours

Dinner had gone longer the previous night and better than he had expected. Rather than having a quick bite to eat and getting back to work, Alex had enjoyed some good conversation with another crew member. The Assistant Security Chief to be exact. But now was work. His Mnemonic Clothing was fully charged and set to his uniform as he had to report to the Bridge in a bit. He had already finished his morning briefing with his Yeoman and taken care of some PADDwork that required his attention.

Now he was in the Analysis Division. Alex had just retrieved the PADD that he and Chief Barnes had worked on yesterday and grunted to the holograms as he left. Once out in the corridor, he headed to the main office area and took an unoccupied desk. One of these days, he was going to have to get that site-to-site Intel transporter technology everyone else had. At least for their Complex, any of that outside of Deck Forty-Four was a no-no. Alex took a seat and leaned back. It was now time to see what was in those corrupted files. Or at least what F.R.E.D. had compiled from his search.

The selected information started with random Operations and Security logs and reports. Why this sort of data was being deleted from the Orion Sector Tactical Command computers was odd. Odd enough in fact, to be pulled out by F.R.E.D. and the analysts.

Alex began to read the first Operations log. Day One: A Cardassian woman known only as Illiana has arrived at the station, seeking asylum. After a background check that indicated no affiliations with known enemies, asylum at Orion Sector Tactical Command was granted. Asylum requests were a little unusual, but from a Cardassian female, they were even odder. Alex continued reading until something caught his eye. The mention of the female again. Day Six: The Operations Officer has been seen with Illiana and his work habits have been slacking. Alex furrowed his brow and wished that they could have captured one of the pirates on the station for interrogation. One of his interrogations.

As the Intel Chief continued to read, he noticed the logs transition from Operations to Security. Day Ten: Two Security Officers, including the Chief of Security have been seen in the company of Illiana at various times and acting strangely. First, it was the work habits in the Operations Department, now it was strange acting Security Officers and the Security Chief. Alex noticed a pattern emerging when he saw that the Medical Department was also on the list. Day Fourteen: The Chief Medical Officer is arrested and sent to the brig after making objections about Illiana. All of the major departments...something wasn’t right about all this. Then...

Day Seventeen: The Executive Officer has been seen with Illiana as well as the Security and Operations Officers. Day Twenty-One: The Commanding Officer of the station has been seen with Illiana. Day Thirty: A joint decision of the senior officers is made to leave the station. Illiana contacts an unknown ship and all board it after extensive sabotage is done to the station and covered up. That was it. Illiana was a plant, and a damn good one, too. Someone was taking down OSTC from the inside. This information needed to be brought to the Command Staff immediately. And this morning’s orders to report to the Bridge was just as a good a time as any.

Alex then moved from the station’s official logs to the personal logs. He spent the next hour or so cataloguing them and the official logs in his Ullian memory. After he finished, he summarized the personal logs on the PADD. The personal logs all seem to revolve around Illiana in some way or another after her arrival. Some of them reference her by name, while others call her a mysterious woman that no male could reject. Fights had even broken out over the woman but were quickly settled. Nothing was reported after those incidents. It appears that Illiana held an unusual sway over men not normally associated with Cardassians.

Alex then downloaded the report to the Intelligence Network so he could securely access it when he needed it. He removed another, clean, PADD from the desk where he sat and transferred the data to it from the network. That one was going to the Executive Officer when he reached the Bridge.
