Upgraded

Mission: The Nanjing
Timeline: MD 2 || 1700 Hours

The integration of the Triumphant was going according to the plan of the Nanjing. They were now in the sensor and communications systems, but the Tactical and Security systems were giving them trouble. The Chiefs for those two systems and the designers at Starfleet had done their job well in locking them down. A foray into the records indicated that the systems had been updated after an alien had taken control of them and killed hundreds of personnel and the new protocols were fractally encrypted.

With Operations under their control, the Nanjing blocked all subspace messages and sent them to the backup under received and read messages, then archived. From there, they spread to Flight Control. Everything was proceeding to plan. Soon they would have control of all of Engineering and then move on to other parts of the ship.

With each system they infiltrated, they lurked in the background and stealthily coded themselves into the computer and began the Upgrade on it to make it sentient.

The Nanjing that had established the hold on Ensign Rivers had used Lieutenant Deveraux and the Bolian to construct new Upgrade beds and source more materials. The requests through Operations were approved with fake authorizations and more materials came in as they were replicated.

More recruits were brought in from other parts of the ship as the numbers of the Nanjing hosts increased, each bringing more materials. Over a hundred personnel had been brought to their numbers and continued to grow.

Out of the hundred, only five had been Upgraded with replaced limbs and weaponized, but it was their hope to Upgrade all without losses, either of life or limb. The five had integrated Type II phasers in their forearms and one of them had a grenade launcher built into his left arm. They were placed around the Upgrade Chambers as guards.

It wasn't long before new Upgrade beds were made and more were being brought in, schedules rearranged to account for personnel being Upgraded, and a variety of other actions designed to make things look normal. Soon, the ship and its personnel would fall and then the rest of the Federation would follow.
