Salty

Mission:
The Nanjing
Location: Chief Medical Officer's Office
Calista scowled at the replicator, "Let's try this again, Computer, iced coffee blend Aereen-3." She said, the replicator hummed to life and the tall glass filled with dark liquid and ice materialized. She skipped, she scowled and she put it back and hit recycle.
"Aereen to Ops, could you send someone to take a look at my office replicator." She said opening a channel.
The Chief Operations Officer's voice came over the commlink after it was established, "I'll add it to my department's service requests and we'll get around to it at some point today."
It wasn't the answer she wanted but she understood, a replicator was a fairly low priority at the best of the time. Big ship, longer waits. She thought. "Thank you, I appreciate it." She said, as she dropped back into her desk chair and turned her attention to her paperwork.
[ Sometime Later ]
Lieutenant Zekori Dosan had tried to shuffle and reassign tasks. He saw that the replicator in the Chief Medical Officer's Office hadn't been serviced yet. He would take it upon himself towards the end of his shift to take a look at it himself. He tapped on his commbadge, "Zekori to Doctor Aereen."
"Aereen here." The CMO replied as she signed off another padd and added it to the out pile.
"Hello Doctor, this is Chief Ops Officer Lieutenant Zekori Dosan. I'm on my way to you now to take a look at that replicator that's giving you some problems."
"Thank you Lieutenant, I'm here whenever you're free." She replied over the channel.
"I'll be there in the next ten minutes. Zekori out."
[ Within Ten Minutes Later ]
Lieutenant Zekori Dosan entered Main Sickbay carrying his toolkit. He came to the door of the Chief Medical Officer's Office. He tapped the button waiting for her response.
"Come in." Callista called from desk and smiled at the Ops chief, "Thanks for coming and having a look at this."
"Not a problem, Doctor Aereen." The Chief Operations Officer entered her office and headed towards the replicator on the wall. He grabbed his tricorder from his tool belt and started to do a scan.
"Well, everything sort of comes out tasting salty, even things that normally wouldn't have any salt in them, like coffee." She said gesturing to her mug, "but the rest of the replicators in sickbay seem to be just fine."
"Sounds like one or more of the filters needs to be replaced." Zekori looked down at the readouts with the tricorder. With his free hand he pressed some buttons on the tricorder and then on the replicator's interface while he continued to work. "How long have you been on the Triumphant, Doctor?"
"Just a few days, an Admiral ended my leave because the ship apparently badly need a CMO." She replied watching the officer work, "How about you?"
"Just arrived recently myself," Zekori looked over and smiled. He clipped the tricorder back on his tool belt and opened up his toolkit for a few tools. He opened the panel below the replicator to inspect the bio-neural gel packs. He disconnected one and inserted another. He pressed a few buttons. "Could you try ordering your coffee drink and see if it comes out not... salty?"
"Computer iced coffee blend Aereen-3." She requested and a moment later the beverage appeared, she took a sip. "Much better."
"Still off?" Zekori looked at the Doctor concerned if it wasn't to her liking.
"Slightly, but this problem I'm use to, I always have tweak the recipe a little bit on new ships, it's almost like every ships replicator have a way of doing things that are slightly different. That or it's all in my head." She said with a smile, "Thank you for taking the time."
"Not a problem, Doctor. Let me know if anything else comes up that needs some recalibration." Zekori closed his toolkit and headed for the door towards Sickbay.
"Thanks again," She said smiling as she watched the Ops Chief depart.
