Mission: The Nanjing
Location: Various
Timeline: MD 0 || 0800 Hours

Doctor Armitage took in a deep breathe. The stress of his first posting as Chief Medical Officer was too much pressure. The ship was large and he oversaw a large department. He was in too deep. He hadn't slept since the debriefing and hadn't have had much of an appetite.

He was out of character and he knew it. He needed to let the first officer know. He read several articles from leading Starfleet researcher on the Borg and how to revert the assimilation process. It scared him shitless.

He reluctantly brought his comm-badge to his chest. He hesitated in the moment but knew that he had too. "+Doctor Armitage to Captain Weisz+"

"Weisz here, Doctor. What can I do for you?" Maddy asked as she paused what she was doing.

"I...." Doctor Armitage was hesitant and relucant to follow through. He paused momentarily and it was the right thing to do, "I was hoping for a moment of your time, Captain."

"Certainly. Can you make it to my office?" Captain Weisz asked.

"Of course. On my way, I'll be there in fifteen."

===[XO's Office, Fifteen Minutes Later]===

Armitage tapped the call button and waited.

Maddy finished up with the last of her work when the chime alerted her that Doctor Armitage was at her door. She set the PADD aside and rose to her feet, straightening out her uniform to greet her guest. When she was sure she was presentable, the Captain cleared her throat and looked toward the door. "Come in."

Armitage held a PADD in his hand and carried it over to her, "Thank you for agreeing to see me, Captain Weisz."

"It's not a problem, Lieutenant. What can I do for you?" Maddy asked as she gestured to a seat across from her desk. "Can I get you anything before we truly get started?"

"No, that is fine." The Doctor answered. "Maybe a glass of water, please."

Maddy moved over to the replicator to get him a glass of water, as well as tea for herself, then made her way back over to her desk. Once she placed the drink in front of him, she took her seat and studied him for a moment before speaking. "Now, what is it that you wanted to speak to me about, Lieutenant?"

The Doctor approached the Captain's desk. He waited for her invitation to take the seat in front of her. He held the PADD in both hands. He took in a deep breathe trying to focus on what he came here to do. He forced it out of himself "I would like to request a transfer."

Dominic felt a sense of relief. He still wasn't certain if that was what he wanted but he felt a sense of failure since coming aboard the Triumphant with how he's managed his department after Doctor Sorvik literally tried to murder the Commodore. And not to mention the uneasiness he felt when they were going up ahead against the Borg.

"I realize that this may come to a surprise to you, Captain. I feel that my placement aboard the Triumphant as the chief medical officer was too soon and I feel grossly unqualified to continue serving in this capacity aboard this vessel."

That certainly did come as a surprise to the Captain, and it was clearly displayed on her face. "Why do you feel that way? Has something happened? Are you having trouble with other members of the crew?"

"The whole Dr Sorvik being a double agent and could-be assassin of the Commodore... other than that, I just feel that my time aboard the Triumphant will be short-lived."

Maddy nodded her head. She couldn't begin to fathom how traumatic something like an assassination attempt would be for the doctor who was performing life saving surgery at the time. For him or for the Commodore. "I understand, Lieutenant, and I hope that you're able to find whatever it is you're looking for as far as your career goes," she said.

"Thank you for your understanding, Captain."

"You're quite welcome, Lieutenant, and thank you for the time you've served aboard the Triumphant. I wish you nothing but the best in all of your future endeavors," she told him with a nod of her head.

The redhead reached for a PADD and began to compile his resignation as CMO aboard the ship, then turned it toward him so he could apply his signature to it. Once he'd completed that task, she signed her own and placed it into his personnel file after sending a copy to the Commodore for review. "Everything is done on this end. I'll arrange for transport. Dismissed, Lieutenant," she said.

As she watched the ship's former Medical Chief leave her office, the Captain realized it would be for the last time. She really did hope he found whatever it was he wanted out of his career, but sadly, the Triumphant wasn't it.
