Mission: An Orion to Die For
Location: Deck 43 || Marine Country
Timeline: MD 2 || 1230 Hours

Maddy stepped off of the turbolift and made her way into Marine country. She couldn't remember the last time she'd been down to this part of the ship, but given the relationship the former Security Chief had with the Marines, there was no way this impromptu meeting was going to go bad. If anything, she was rather impressed with the detachment on board the Triumphant despite not having had the chance to meet the new Marine CO. She'd have to rectify that, but it would have to wait for another time since he was currently busy elsewhere.

Master Sergeant Gage Aravan stood at a desk at the entrance to Marine Country discussing rotation with some of the Marines stationed there. When a movement in Command red appeared in the doorway, he turned to see the fiery redheaded Executive Officer of a ship and smiled. "What brings you down here, Commander?" he asked her.

"Sergeant, we've got company coming, and they're expected to arrive within minutes. I request the assistance of your Marines in aiding Security when it comes to keeping an eye on them," the Commander replied. "I am quite aware that you and your men aren't babysitters, but this is to keep the ship and our crew as safe as possible. I don't trust the fact that we're in pirate and slaver territory."

Gage listened to her respectfully and then nodded. "I can do that, but they aren't my Marines. They're Colonel Racktors, but he's busy at the moment. I can spare two squads and call it a training exercise if he asks." He paused, then looked at her. "Did my brother send you down here, Commander?"

"He did, but I was going to make my way down here anyway. They'll be needed in sickbay and the docking station. All individuals boarding this ship are to be watched at all times. We have civilians and children to think about," she said, looking thoughtful. Perhaps, it wouldn't be a bad idea to close down the promenade and send all civilians to their quarters until further notice. Maybe that was pushing things a bit too far at the moment. "Can you get them there immediately?"

"Can do, Commander," Gage said as he picked up at PADD and ran a personnel search. He selected a man and woman of the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. "Sergeants Loxall and Peterson will lead a squad each," he told the XO as he sent out the orders for them to meet up in Sickbay and the Docking Port. Men and women came out of various corridors deeper in Marine Country, all in battle gear and each one moved to the armory to collect a TR-116 each and well as their personal body armor before they formed up on Loxall and Peterson at the entrance to the rest of the ship.

"Commander," Gage said after he got his own TR-116 and body armor on. "We are at your disposal, but we are not disposable."

"Thank you, Sergeant, and I know none of you are disposable. You're all well worth your wait in gold pressed latinum bars and then some. Perhaps, if these individuals have any ideas about trying something, they'll think twice," she said, offering Gage a smile.

Each Gunnery Sergeant formed up their ten man teams and waited for Gage to give them their orders.

"We'll make them regret thinking of it the first time," Gage told her. "Loxalll, you and your team go to Sickbay. Peterson, you and your squad go to the docking bay. Work with Security and all will go well."

A concerted "Yes, Sir!" came from every mouth and the two squads headed out to their separate direction before Gage looked back at her. "What kind of trouble are we expecting, Commander?"

"Hopefully... none, but I've been surprised quite a bit lately... both good and bad," the Commander replied. "We've come across a freighter with wounded aboard. They say they're from the Orion Tactical Command Outpost, but I'm not entirely sure I want to believe that. Call me paranoid, but considering we're in an area of space that's full or pirates and slavers, I'm not taking any chances."

"Smart, Commander," Gage said. "I've been informing Colonel Racktor about the ship and he's letting me train the men to get familiar with it. I wish we still had Colonel Arynson leading us."

"Colonel Arynson was a great Marine, and one hell of a leader. She's missed by every one of us that had the chance to get to know her, but... we can't blame her for the choices she made," Maddy said. "I'm sure we'll see her again in the future, too, and when we do, maybe she'll put you all through hell for old time's sake."

Gage laughed. "She would and I'm not blaming her for the choice she made. I just said that I miss her. As for Captain Arynson....well, I needed a grain of salt and my wife to handle him."

Maddy couldn't help but laugh at that. "Your wife, huh? I promise not to let that get out. I'm sure you would never hear the end of it."

"She already knows," Gage said. "Remember when Colonel Arysnon stayed on Risa when we got the call for Starbase 198? Captain Arynson drove us like dogs until she got back. Piper laid into him like she was a five star general and he backed off."

"Smart man. I do remember seeing the report that you were injured and ended up in sickbay as a result. She was within her rights to chew him a new one."

"He backed down after that," Gage said. "But now it's back to business under a new Commanding Officer and to get these areas secured in case this freighter is a trap."

"Perfect, Sergeant. If you need anything, let me know," Weisz said.

"Will do," he said and with that, he hefted his rifle and headed out for the docking bay.
