Worried Much; What Dreams May Come
Posted on Wed May 2, 2018 @ 5:39pm by Lieutenant JG Logan Hunter & Lieutenant Commander Kelani Tetanal
Mission:
Falling Star
Location: Logan's quarters
Timeline: MD 33 || 1800 hours
Logan exited the fresher in his quarters as he towel dried his hair. He was trying to decompress from the intense battle a few hours before. He was on his way to the replicator to get a chamomile tea when the chime announced the arrival of someone. He changed direction and headed to the door, opening it manually with the switch on the panel.
Once the debriefing was done, Kelani had hurried to her quarters to freshen up then made her way to Logan’s quarters. She hadn’t realized until it was over how desperately worried she’d been. Now she felt a need to see Logan, to be absolutely sure he was safe.
She rang the chime and waited, washing her hands together nervously.
As the door opened and she saw Logan, she smiled, saying softly, “Imzadi—I had to see you.....”
Logan ran a hand through his damp, unruly hair as he took a step back, gesturing for her to come in with his other hand. Her mere presence brought a smile, albeit a tired one, to his face. "Sure, come on in." Just seeing her caused his fatigue to almost slip away.
Kelani moved quickly inside, allowing the door to close behind her. She stepped close to Logan, embrassing him, leaning up to give him a gentle but passionate kiss.
“You are tired, my Imzadi,” she said softly. “I probably should not have come, but I needed to see that you are safe”
She laid her head against Logan’s chest with a sigh.
Logan wrapped his arms around Kelani in a gentle embrace. He slowly stroked her hair. "Nonsense, you're always a welcome sight." Despite his fatigue, her being here was like tonic for his soul.
“Kelani smiled up at Logan, saying, “As are you.” She took him by the hand and led him into his sitting area saying, “Let us sit together for a while, then we will decide what we should do, yes?” She stretched up and gave Logan another lingering kiss.
Logan returned the kiss before settling on the couch with her. He could still detect vestiges of concern on her face. "I guess you were a bit worried about earlier?"
“I was indeed,” Kelani replied, biting her lip. “I know the risk is always there, but ....."
She snuggled close, continuing, “I did not realize how tense I was until the battle ended.” She gave Logan a small smile, saying, “I am a scientist, not a fighter—I think the lack of understanding of your strategies was one of the things that had me concerned.”
She ducked her head, blushing, “I suppose that is foolish....”
Logan framed her face with both his hands. "Now you listen to me Kelani Tetanal. You are not foolish. What I do is scary and that is before you add in the chance of combat." He planted a long, yet very light kiss on her. "I will promise you that I will always come back safely."
Kelani returned the kiss, her fingers twining in Logan’s damp hair. As the kiss ended, she smiled at him saying softly, “I will hold you to that, my Logan—but it may be a difficult promise to keep.”
She stroked his cheek, then traced his lips with her fingertips.
“I treasure you, my Imzadi.” she said softly.
Logan took her hands in his, kissing them gently. He released her hands to wrap her in his arms and pull her close. "I will always keep that promise. You are what will always be what gets me home."
Kelani snuggled close with a sigh and a smile. “I will always be here, my Logan. I will do all I can to help keep you safe.”
She reached up, cradled Logan’s face in her hands and placed a long lingering kiss on his lips.
Logan settled back into the couch, happy to just have his arms wrapped around Kelani. He felt at peace. He breathed in deeply, the faint scent of her perfume a gentle reminder of how calm her mere presence always made him. He closed his eyes to imagine what it would be like for them to take their relationship to the next level. A moment later he drifted off and straight into a wonderful dream.
He stood at the end of an aisle wearing his dress whites. The Commodore and the CAG also there. Seated along each side of the aisle was what looked to be the ship's company. Music began to play and he looked down the aisle.
Kelani smiled tenderly as Logan relaxed against her. She shifted slightly, making sure his head was on her shoulder.
She sensed a dream beginning....curious, she looked in his mind. Seeing what the dream was, she caught her breath, kissed him tenderly, then very carefully, very gently joined him in his dream.
Kelani appeared, moving slowly to the cadence of the music. Her gown shimmered as she moved toward Logan, her eyes only for him. Her hair fell free down her back, entwined with flowers and glittering gemstones.
As she reached Logan, she gazed into his eyes with a radiant smile.
Logan breathed in deeply as he took Kelani's hand. His eyes never wavering from hers. He finally turned when the Commodore started the wedding ceremony.
Kelani also gazed deeply into Logan’s eyes, a happy glow on her face. Like Logan, she turned when the Commodore began the ceremony, softly whispering, “Always, my Imzadi,” then turned her attention to the Commodore’s voice as he performed the ceremony.
Logan turned to Kelani after they were pronounced man and wife. He lifted a hand and gently touched her cheek before kissing her.
Kelani’s smile got even wider and more radiant as Logan leaned in to kiss her.
“Imzadi,”. She murmured against his lips.
The dream changed. Husband and wife stood waist deep in the ocean watching as the Risan sun set. Logan couldn't remember a moment other than their wedding that he felt this happy and content. He looked at his bikini clad wife and gave her an adoring smile. "Perhaps we should head back to the suite and get ready for dinner."
Kelani playfully splashed her husband, giggling. “Perhaps,” she said archly, “but there are—other—things that we can do....” She then ducked under the water and reached for Logan’s ankles, pulling him under water with her....
Logan got a breath in before being pulled under the water. He grappled with his new bride as the out going tide pulled them into somewhat deeper water. He embraced Kelani as they surfaced only to discover them both sans their swimming attire. I wan smile broke out on his face as he pulled her even closer. "You're absolutely right, dinner can wait."
Kelani laughed at Logan’s reaction, kissing him before saying, “It is—unfortunate, that is true. We must eventually make a run for our things—find something to cover up with...”
She stood with Logan for a moment, pressed close to him. The water began to cool and she began to shiver in the chill water.
“We must do this, Imzadi,” she said, rushing for the beach and their coverups.

The Sickbay lights gleamed as Logan carried his gasping wife in, laying her on the biobed indicated. Kelani grasped Logan’s hand, clutching it tightly as the contractions continued.
Logan wiped Kelani's brow with a free hand as he gently squeezed hers with his other. "Breathe sweetie, breathe." He gave a cadenced huff of three quick breaths and then a single long deep one.
Kelani’s eyes never left Logan’s face as she struggled to do as he was coaching her to do. Unfortunately, in the middle of the sequence another contraction came and she gasped and cried out, clamping down hard on Logan’s hand.
“Imzadi!!” She cried.
Logan bore the pain of her grip, knowing it was nothing compared to the pain Kelani was experiencing in giving birth to their child.
The medical team assembled quickly about the table. The doctor ran a scanning wand over Kelani's torso and pelvis. "Won't be much longer. You've already reached eight and a half centimeters.
Kelani gasped again, then tried to return to the breathing as Logan urged her to do.
“Does it—always—take this—long?” She asked breathlessly, then cried out again as another contraction came.
She clutched Logan’s hand, her eyes locked on his.
Logan was wishing he could take some of her pain away. He whispered to her how much he loved her and how she was the bravest person he knew. He kept reassuring her.
Then came time. "Push baby, push."
Kelani nodded, her breath coming hard. She began to push, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"I am -- trying," she gasped as she pushed through another contraction. " I -- hope-- the baby comes -- soon"
Logan kept coaching Kelani through the breathing and pushing. The doctor reaching down and preparing for the birth. Soon the crown of the head appeared. "Okay, I need you to push."
Kelani nodded, the pain robbing her of speech. She began the process of pushing and resting until she heard the cry of her baby. She gasped and smiled...but the smile faded as the contractions began again.
“Imzadi—it is—beginning—again,” she gasped.
The birth of their second child caught Logan and the medical staff by surprise. Logan resumed coaching Kelani as the medical team prepared for delivery of the second baby. A few minutes later the Sickbay was filled with cries of the second new born. Logan carefully placed both babies in Kelani's arms. " We have a boy and a girl my love."
Kelani took the two babies in her arms, her tired smile radiant as she looked first at her babies, then at Logan—her wonderful Logan.
“He is as handsome as you, my Imzadi,” she said softly. “She is....” she paused for a moment, her tired mind struggling to do justice to their daughter’s beauty.
Logan gently reached out and ran a thumb across his daughter's brow. "... just as beautiful as her mother."
The medical team prepared to move Kelani to a recovery room.
Logan came awake for a brief moment to discover himself nestled in a sleeping Kelani's arms. He looked up at her face and decided he was going to ask her to marry him upon completion of their current mission.
