"THEY MAY TAKE OUR LIVES, BUT THE ROMMIE'S WILL NEVER TAKE OUR FREEDOM!"
"Oh, will you pipe down." Crewman Robert Scott asked, rolling his eyes as he looked at his friend, William Matthews. They two of them were more commonly known among the junior crew as Bill and Bob, something that Robert hated.
"Oh, come on Bob. They just fought the Romulan's and won. Why shouldn't we be happy?" Will asked, as he jumped off of the toolbox he had been standing on.
"Because we were in battle, and could have died. You think I signed up to die?" Robert asked. Will chuckled.
"No, you signed up because you lost a bet. Not my fault we were stuck in janitorial duties." Will replied, as he opened the toolbox, and took out the carpet cleaner. "Although it would be nice if those people could keep the ship clean just once in their lives."
"Right? It's like none of them care we have to clean it. What do they think, the magic elves do it?" Robert asked, sighing. "So tell me, what do you think will happen next? More battles, and blood?" He asked. Seeing the engineers repairing a damaged panel,, Robert sighed. "Why the hell did I let you talk me into going out that night?"
"Hey, we're here, so let's make the most of it. We get to travel!" Will said.
"Yes, and when will we get to see anything? Face it, it's those pompous assed officers who get to do everything. We just clean the crap up." Robert said.
"I dunno. Have you seen the XO? Damn, that's one fine woman." Will said, smirking.
"And cold, from what I hear. She's been given the nickname Ice Queen. Personally, I think the Captain's wife is nicer." Robert replied. Will chuckled.
"Ah, they're just two sides of the same coin. Both XO's, and both hot. And both likely in love with the Captain." Will said. "But I bet I could get Ice Queen to join me on a date." Robert snorted at the comment.
"You couldn't get a bloody Horta to join you on a date!" Robert replied. "Look, here she comes now. Put your money where your mouth is."
"Alright, I will." Will said. He went to approach her, but watched as she simply walked past him before he could speak. Robert began to laugh, holding onto the wall for support.
"Yeah, real smooth there Will." Robert said.
"Oh, you watch. I'll get a date." Will said.
"Not with her. She's taken. Come on, I'm sure we can get some holodeck time. Or maybe a woman who likes a man in uniform, there are some civilians aboard. Has to be one with brain damage who might like you." Robert commented.
"Yeah, like you could ever get a woman." Will muttered, with a glare.
"Look, face it, officers don't pay attention to us. We're the little guys." Robert said. "Look, there's that Intel guy, Hartley. See if he notices us."
"Not likely." Will agreed. "He's too...well, Intel always creeps me out." He said. They watched as Hartley walked past them, and headed round the corner. Robert sighed, and shook his head.
"Look, let's just clean this section, and then we can get some chow." Robert said. "And you can go back to dreaming."
"What about that new doc, the Trill woman? Bet she'll be nice to us." Will said.
"Sure, if you have a broken arm or something. Tell you what, I'll help with that." Robert replied.
"No, thank you." Will said. "I'm hungry. We'll get some food soon."
"Face it, Will." Robert said, with a sad smile. "No one is ever gonna document our adventures. We're just the little guys."
