Mission Profile

Posted on Sat Jul 29, 2017 @ 12:22am by Lieutenant Colonel S'er'in'e & Major Kasia S'er'in'e & 2nd Lieutenant Gage Aravan

Mission: Strange Matter
Location: MCO's Office
Timeline: MD27 ll 10:00 Hrs

S'er'in'e read the briefing again, he did so to make sure no detail slipped his attention. He had been apart of missions to rescue, to eliminate targets, recon and report, sabotage and espionage. Some of which were helped because of his natural talents and abilities being able to blend in as part of the local wildlife, a pet or trophy.

In this instance however the profile was rescue and capture. Civilians were always the worst, panic was easy, they fled, often not doing as they were told causing untold troubles and there had been in the past where he stunned those that put his men at risk.

=^= Major Patrova, Lieutenant Aravan, report to my office for mission briefing. =^= The latter's new rank would take some getting used to having slipped into the formality of addressing the man as 'Master' due to his former rank.

S'er'in'e uploaded the information to the holographic table in his office, topography of the area, weather reports, everything one might need to plan a mission. Off to the side of the table were 'pieces' that could be moved into place by hand, the ship, scouts, fireteams, equipment, everything they would need.

After she was summoned, it didn't take long before Kasia was standing outside the Colonel's office door. There was very little mystery about why she and Aravan were summoned as he'd said it was for their mission briefing, but she did wonder what was in store for them. As she pondered the many possibilities, she reached out to touch the sensor for the chime and waited.

Gage showed up a minute later and looked at Major Patrova. "What's going on, Major?" he asked.

"I'm not sure, but I have a feeling we'll both be finding out soon," she answered. "Congratulations, by the way. No one deserves the promotion more than you do. It's well overdue, and if it were up to me, you'd be Captain right now."

"Thanks, Major," Gage said. "I went to Officer Candidate School while on shore leave. I'm now about ten steps under my brother."

"Come." S'er'in'e called, the doors opened to reveal the two officers. "Major." The customary bow. "And congratulations Lieutenant.....please." S'er'in'e large hand out towards the holotable that held the information to join him. "I hope you are both well?"

Once granted entry, Kasia made her way inside S'er'in'e's office. "You wanted to see us, Colonel?"

Gage followed behind Kasia and gave a nod to the Marine CO. "Rested and ready, Colonel," he said.

"Good, it will be needed." S'er'in'e rotated around the table to put it between him and his officers. "Orders handed to me by the Commodore outline a sieze and rescue operation. External politics have resulted in the kidnapping of the Wife and Daughter of a political figure as leverage, our orders are to effect a rescue and capture responsible parties." S'er'in'e brought up the files of both the Wife and Daughter.

"This is a zero presence mission, we leave nothing behind, no trace we were ever there and destroy the compound once cleared." S'er'in'e knew that last bit.....was optional. Why eliminate everyone when you could seal them in a tomb to die off?

"Using the information we have, we will take the Victorious, yourselves and three fireteams with assorted gear, weaponry and supplies." He pulled up the map again revealing the lay of the land. To the north and west there were cliffs, the south was a forrest, a river trailed off to the east. A tidy set up S'er'in'e had to admit, but exploitable. "Because of the sensitive nature we will recon the area using eyes and drones, if we keep the drones below the treeline it might help mask them from any sensors they have." S'er'in'e enlarged the map to just the compound. "We don't know accurate counts, we will use a TR116 for its abilities to see underground. Drones, eyes and scouts will mark targets, monitor patrol routes, sentries, any weapons emplacements."

He zoomed out a little. "We have no idea what land based defences they have or if they have mines. Crude yes but even in todays age, still effective. Eyes in the sky and elevated scouts will eyeball the surrounds for dirt displacements, disturbed terrain and the like. I'm not afraid of a fight but I refuse to go in blind." S'er'in'e paused a moment. "At night we will make better use of multiple drones, weather reports are moderate at best so we may encounter a clear sky or overcast, regardless of the weather we will avoid highlighting the drones by positioning them between the compound and a light source. They will be linked by tight beam drone to drone and back to us for holographic representation. I don't want them to exit from a rear door and flank us by surprise."

"Any questions so far?"

Kasia listened as he spoke, taking in every detail she was hearing. Compared to most missions she'd been on in the past, this one seemed as if it would be a leisurely wake in the park, though, something about what she'd just heard bothered her. "If this is supposed to be a zero presence mission where we're to leave no traces of our being there behind, wouldn't destroying the compound do just that?" she asked. This wasn't her questioning orders, but rather trying to make sense of conflicting ones.

"Easy enough to do," Gage said after he listened to what was said. "Ammunition dumps can go up easily with one wrong move."

"That is the plan, if possible we will make use of stored munitions, should they prove to be insufficient for the task we will take a small amount of the Victorious's warp plasma, have it contaminated far below Starfleet specifications and use that as a high yield make shift explosive. It would not be hard to believe that a base such as this not only would hoard anything of potential value for trade currency but also safe storage measures would not be present." S'er'in'e explained the options he was considering.

The Major didn't see it as being that easy, but she said nothing. Instead, she looked at the Colonel. "When do we leave?"

"Contaminated or not, there's a chance someone could trace it back to the Federation," Gage said. "Why not use Thalmerite? It would do the job and it's commonly available."

"Very well, we leave in 2 hours." To answer both questions. "Major contact the Victorious crew to have her ready to depart, select three fireteams to accompany us. Lieutenant make sure we have all the gear we need, account for wet weather, shelters and everything we would need as well as what is on this list." S'er'in'e slid over a PADD which had the weapon and gear load out notes on it. "I have an appointment with Sickbay."

Kasia arched an eyebrow at the mention of sickbay, but would save any questions for later. For now, she looked to Gage. "Go see your wife and boy for an hour. We don't know when we'll be back. I'll take care of gear prep. You can check it over when you return."

"Yes, Sir," Gage said as he took the PADD and headed out of the office to begin gearing up the team before he stopped and looked back at the Major with a smile. "Will do. See you soon, Major." With a wide smile, he turned and headed out.
