Location: Marine Barracks
Timeline: MD9 ll 1520hrs
With Master Gage and the Major splitting up the troops between them it came as no surprise that most were eager for action and out of the door. Within minutes the Barracks were deviod of life bar himself and his assistant outside his office door. With everyone gone it gave him the chance to walk around, get more familiar with his domain without the interuptions or distractions of men constantly standing to attention or the like.
He departed his office and informed his assistant he'd not be far. Firing range, Holodeck, main Barrack area and Quarter Masters office and storage were all recipients of his presence but things were about to take a turn for the worse as he was making his way out of the Barracks area to the ships corridors the doors opened and they revealed another S'er'in'e. Complete with ear sheaths, collar and appearance, S'er'in'e knowing of the situation suspected this this mirror of himself could be what was infecting the ship, did it want to communicate?
He spoke to it but no reply, it's only reaction was a tilt of the head to the side, no blinking, an ear twitch, nothing. Options were slowly running dry but S'er'in'e kept his eyes on his mirror keenly and to a real Caitian the body movements gave away much and he'd see it. The tightening of the muscles on Caitians was hard to miss, claws on hands and feel equally as much so when S'er'in'e saw his mirror's claws appear he knew the situation. He backed away into the main Barrack area where rows of lockers stood, tables and chairs, crash mats in the corners for sparring practice but his eyes never left his foe as it closed on him. S'er'in'e growled but knew it would have no effect on this Holographic copy, it was more out of habit, training as sometimes vocalisations could mean or achieve more than words or action and for some of the more easily intimidated types, submission.
The two circled each other for a brief moment before the hologram charged S'er'in'e. Felines were quick naturally and this fight would demonstrate it to its fullest as each swiped and lunged at the other. Only when the pair crashed into a set of tables and chairs did it draw the attention of his assistant. She came round the corner from the Colonel's office to see two Colonel's fighting it out. She retreated to her desk where a handphaser was kept. =^= Major Patrova, It's Corporal O'Hare, we need you back at the Barracks immediately, it's urgent. =^= It was clear by her voice that she moved quickly as she closed the link with a breath of exertion.
"Stop where you are." O'Hare spoke her phaser level with the pair of Caitians.
The Hologram turned to see O'Hare and S'er'in'e used this moment to strike but it landed on nothing as the Hologram disappeared. He looked around and stopped to see it appear behind O'Hare. The start of a growl, the ease of pressure on one foot as if to take a step was all the time S'er'in'e had as the Hologran savagely killed O'Hare in one bite and two slashes. It tossed her dying body to the floor before returning his attention to S'er'in'e. By now the wounds on S'er'in'e were very real and came with the accompanying effects, his holographic foe however while similarly tattered didn't show any signs of fatigue, blood loss or injury.
S'er'in'e's uniform was torn and tattered from claw marks, bites and pulls. His white fur marred with blood from its once spotless appearance. When the doors opened to the Barracks S'er'in'e hoped it wasn't another hologram but he didn't have time to consider it as he was tackled and the pair sent into a row of lockers which sent them to the ground in plain view of the new arrival. Who ever came though would see two very distinct Caitians scrapping.
Kasia got the call shortly after briefing a few different teams regarding their role in the chaos that was currently taking place. The way O'Hare sounded... time was of the essence, but she had zero idea what was going on, or what she was going to be walking in on. Placing a hand on the phaser at her hip, the Major took off at a run to get to the barracks where it was clear she was needed.
The scene she came in on was unlike anything she'd ever seen before. S'er'in'e was there, and he was fighting... himself. She unholstered her phaser and pointed it in their direction in hopes of disgusting the situation. "That's enough!" she snapped. "Cease and desist or I will fire! You've both been warned!" With their size, mass destruction would happen.
"He's a hologram." S'er'in'e pointed.
"No he is." The fake returned.
S'er'in'e knew that Kasia had enough information already, a hologram was in play for photonic weapons to be needed, they were in the next room which meant S'er'in'e had to buy her time.
"Did you enjoy your meal at my quarters?" The Hologram spoke.
S'er'in'e had to think, the computer would know about the ordering of food, it went through the computer.
S'er'in'e took off his commbadge. He tossed it aside and said Kasia's name.
Kasia looked between the two Caitian males in front of her as her brows furrowed. One of them was the real S'er'in'e, and the other was nothing more than a holographic rendition conjured up by the computer. But... which was which? That's what she was going to have to figure out. It was then a plan began to formulate in her mind, something she wasn't going to vocalize lest the computer use it against her.
The Russian woman cast a look at the fallen O'Hare from the corner of her eye, then ran that way to get her hands on her phaser. Kasia hit the deck with a grunt as pain shot through her hip and fired at the nearest holo-emitter, taking it out with ease. As she slid past the dead woman, she grabbed the second phaser and looked for the next closest emitter.
S'er'in'e knew what Kasia was doing and had to get involved. He lunged at the Hologram and the two sprang into a charged feline fight of brutal, raw savagery. Killing the Orion was one thing, he didn't stand a chance, this Hologram did and S'er'in'e knew his life was on the line.
Another emitter was taken out, and Kasia rolled onto her stomach to look at the chaos that was unfolding. S'er'in'e could end up getting killed in all of this, and that just wasn't okay with her. "I said stop it!" she shouted in a thicker accent as she got to her feet. This was going to end badly if she didn't do something. "Why don't you come at me?" Of course, the real S'er'in'e wouldn't, but the hologram would.
Seeing that the real S'er'in'e was weak from combat injuries the Hologram smiled, a new plan formed and it took the invitation of Kasia to take her on.
Now that she had the holograms attention, she didn't have a lot of time to pit her plan into action. There just wasn't enough time for her to shoot all the emitters to trap the hologram, so she was going to have to take them offline manually. Kasia took a deep breath and gauged the distance between the two of them before she took off at a run. All she had to do was get out of the barracks and to a console, then she'd be able to do what she had to do.
The real S'er'in'e struggled to get his bearings fast enough to react, his wounds ailed him and as he tried to catch his breath he saw Kasia run and the Hologram in hot pursuit.
The Hologram gave chase, lowering himself to hands and feet like the feline he appeared to be and charged towards Kasia. The Human may be quick but he was quicker and closed on her quickly unbeknown to both that the real S'er'in'e had just began to give a wounded chase.
Kasia cast a glance behind her shoulder and saw that he was gaining on her... fast. She took a deep breath and pushed herself to move faster. Of course, the Russian woman wasn't as fast as he was, but she was smaller, and that was something that would work in her favor. "Come on, big boy. Get you some," she said in her accented voice.
The Hologram gave speedy chase catching up to Kasia with comparative ease as he lowered to the feline stance of hands and feet. Thinking that this would be easy the Hologram closed to melee range and lunged at her, leaping high in order to send her to the ground.
The Russian woman had very little time to react to what was going on, but that didn't mean there was no reaction time at all. She made a leap for the bulkhead and kicked off of it, the momentum shooting her behind the holographic Caitian. Kasia didn't plan on staying still, though, as there were a number of ways she could get to where she needed to be, and with that, she changed course, making a left down another corridor.
The hologram was hot on her heels swiping and snapping at Kasia, she was more nimble and agile over the Hologram but it was learning, adapting. The real S'er'in'e gave chase but his wounds pained him which showed his advance but he was not as fast as he used to be. He didn't want to think about what the Hologram would do, it had already killed one female, to it what was another but to S'er'in'e it was far more.
"You just don't quit, do you?" The Russian woman demanded as she continued to run with everything she had. Her life was on the line, and everything about the situation begged her to keep moving. Kasia didn't have much farther to go before she got to her destination, but she was going to have to come up with something to buy herself more time.
Though injured S'er'in'e was not too far behind but he had to catch up, pressing himself harder he picked up the pace but it would cost him later, not as much however if he didn't and Kasia was to suffer for his lack of effort. He could see cuts and nicks on the carpet, scuff marks from boots in a slide, Kasia had been evading the Holograms attacks. The Hologram was vocal in his efforts and lead S'er'in'e right to them and when he saw the pair he growled to gather the Holograms attention....S'er'in'e was still in this game.
Kasia saw a console up ahead... she just needed the time to get the holo-emitters offline. What the Russian woman needed now was a diversion, but what? Where was a giant ball of yarn when you needed one. Taking a deep breath, she dared to glance behind herself over her shoulder and saw that the holographic Caitian was still hot on her heels, but behind him, the real S'er'in'e was hot on his. This had to work.
She came to a sliding halt in front of the console and began to move her fingers over it at a frenzied pace. She didn't have long at all, and found that she was holding her breath. Still... she braced herself for certain death, knowing that in mere seconds the bite of razor sharp claws and teeth were going to do her in.
S'er'in'e had one option available to him, he didn't have the time to sweep past the Hologram and take the assault intended for Kasia himself, he couldn't tackle the Hologram because it would drive the pair of them into her. He did what most would never dare do. As he charged in he grabbed the holograms tail and pulled it hard, footclaws dug into the carpet tearing at it. All he could do was hold on while the Hologram snarled, snapped and tried to claw at Kasia.
A startled gasp escaped her lips and she turned to see the large, angry Caitian leap on her, but... it never happened. In fact, he was a hair away from actually doing any damage to her at all. Kasia's fingers flew over the console... faster than she would have ever thought herself of being capable. A stinging sensation rose up her arm as one of the holographic S'er'in'e's claws connected with her skin, but then she was done, laying a finger on the final sensor to take the emitters on deck forty-three offline.
S'er'in'e fell back when the force keeping him upright ceased. The fall though uncomfortable caused no damage but he took the opportunity to lay on his side much like the feline he was. He ached, sore, cut, slashed and bruised and even felt some bone damage from when the two of them were flinging each other across the Barracks, over tables and into chairs and lockers. He felt fur tug at him from it being matted with blood, fresh stints of cuts and the burning of exertion. "Are you alright Kasia?" He asked softly, weak as he was his tone holding more feline inflections than normal.
"I'm fine," Kasia replied, moving over to him to kneel down next to him. Her voice was soft and breathless from the marathon she felt like she'd just run. Despite the bleeding cut on her arm, she paid it no mind. "You are the one I'm worried about. You need medical attention."
"I do." S'er'in'e replied in no position to argue. "Call two marines, take command while I am treated." S'er'in'e knew that while on the job some measure of command and control had to be maintained. "I am glad you are alright." He would have touched her but after that ordeal, even if it wasn't the real him, he'd touched her enough in a way that was forbidden and he felt that.
With a nod, she lowered her head and pressed a kiss to the corner of his mouth, then straightened up just as a small group of Marines made their way to the two of them. "You two," she began, pointing at two men. "Escort the Colonel to sickbay. The rest of you... carry on with your duties." She tapped her combadge. =^=Major Petrova to Captain Aravan... the holo-emitters have been taken offline on deck forty-three.=^=
