Meatocalypse Preparations

Mission: An Orion to Die For
Location: Arboretum
Timeline: MD5 | 16:00

With the newly acquired funds secured Marisa headed on down to the Arboretum. She had taken off her duty jacket, undone the top few buttons on her red shirt and donned her old beat up bomber jacket, which had patches stitched on from each of her postings, save for he latest one. The deck was a little more active compared to her last venture here, with families, couples and groups of Star Fleet personnel just off duty or on break milling about. She spotted a few of her own in fact, wearing similar jackets to hers, wandering through the various boutiques with slack jawed expressions on their mouths.

Marisa would get around to that later, for now she had a small fortune of funds she felt as though she didn't have any right too burning a hole in her pocket. Instead she headed towards the bar she'd noticed some advertisements for, the Black Hole, for a way to clear her conscience. She didn't have too much trouble navigating her way to the taps, it was a funny time of day so the bar itself was sparsely populated.

"Excuse me." the pilot said to attract the attention of on of the tenders "I'm looking to set up a function, who do I talk to about that?"

"That would be Piper," the young man answered with a smile. "Give me just a second, and I'll get her for you." With that, he made his way back to the kitchen behind the fully stocked bar to get his boss.

Moments later, Piper made her way through the door carrying her infant son in a sling against her chest. Even though he was secure, she still held him to her for piece of mind. Freak accidents happened all the time, and she didn't want him to be on the receiving end of anything like that. She approached Marisa and offered her a smile. "I was told you'd like to set up a function. I can help you with that."

Marisa forgot all of about her request for a moment as seemingly some switch inside her was flicked. "Aww, and who's this little guy?" she clucked with bright sparkly eyes and a warm smile, leaning forward across the bar to get a better look at the infant.

"This is my son, Liam," Piper said, smiling down at the sleeping little fella and turning him just so so Marisa could get a better look at him. "He's just over a month old now, and is the sweetest thing to ever live."

"Hello Liam" Marisa said with wide, goofy smile as she leaned even further over the bar "You are a handsome man." She spent a few moments gently poking and prodding him.

After a moment she caught herself, whispering under her breath "I swear I came in for something. Oh yeah," She reigned in her clucking and pulled herself back, "I've come into possession of some money that's not exactly mine, and I was thinking about using it to put on a function for the officers and some of the crew."

"Oh?" Piper found herself asking. She couldn't help but smile. The Black Hole had been a very popular location for events like these, and she was more than willing to do what she could to make it happen. "When are you looking to do it, and how many individuals were you thinking might be in attendance?"

"While we're in dock, which should be a few days from now. As for individuals," She sighed "I'm planning on leaving an open invitation to as many of the crew as I can, so the question is how many people can your venue hold?"

"I've have as many as three hundred people in here at any given time," Piper replied, gesturing to the huge space that was her establishment. It was, after all, one of the biggest places on deck ten with only a few others rivaling it in size. "If you want a more sociable setting with fewer tables and chairs, we could easily accommodate five hundred."

"That's probably the way to go." Marisa said with a thoughtful finger on her chin as she thought back to the gatherings she used to have in her homeland. "What about catering?" She turned around to the floor with her hands gesturing around the room "I have visions of a massive barbecue grilling lamb chops and burgers, or is that a little bit too low brow for your establishment?"

Piper couldn't help but smile as she adjusted her little boy. "I can do anything you want me to as far as food and preparation of that food. She reached out to grab a PADD that was settled on the bar a couple feet away and began to take notes. "Whatever you wish."

"So Lamb, mince, bacon, pork sausages, ribs, steaks, chicken, potato and pasta salads." She said listing things off her hand one by one at a mile a minute "It's a little Terran focused so you should keep your standard menu available. And don't bother importing, just replicate it. It's not ideal but the last thing I want is some conscientious objectors making a fuss." She then tapped her finger on her lips pensively "It would be nice if we could get some of the boys on display grilling the meat. I've got an apron that I never get to wear."

The owner continued to take notes as the other woman spoke. "Is there anything else you're interested in having? Do you have a theme in mind?"

"Well, I kinda had a vision of a beach party." Marisa replied "But I don't know how to do that on a ship with out making it look tacky. If you can make it work though..."

Piper grinned and made another note. "Have you given thought to using the holodeck for this? I can still handle everything for you, and you'd be able to have as many people as you wish. Plus... you'll be able to enjoy the simple things the holodeck has to offer like sand beneath your feet and the ocean."

"Sure I thought about it." Marisa said with a shrug "I also thought about replicating all the food and importing all the alcohol. Could probably save a lot of money doing it that way too. But" she continued with a proud smirk and a thoughtful upraised finger "it is incredibly important to support local businesses, especially ones that come with us and expose themselves same risks we in Star Fleet do."

"Oh, you'd still be supporting a local business," Piper said with a smile. "After all... I'd be supplying the food and alcohol. The holodecks would give you the luxury of being on a beach with a ton of space for everyone."

"Alright, you've persuaded me." Marisa said with a defeated sigh, raising her hands defensively. "I was looking forward to seeing how you guys would do with the redecorating, but the Holodeck is probably a better alternative. I just hope the one here is better than the dated P-O-S they have on K7."

"I don't mind holding it here, but the best I could give you as far as water goes is an inflatable pool that will only hold about ten individuals," the young woman said, imagining how well that would go over among adults. "Whatever you want is what I'll make happen."

"Sounds like what my family does for Australia day." Marisa chuckled nostalgically "No, you're right, Holodeck is probably the way to go."

Piper smiled. "Then, the holodeck it is. I'll handle everything so all you and your guest will have to do is arrive and enjoy," she said, offering Marisa a smile.

"Alright." Marisa said with an affirmative nod before an idea shocked her like a lightning bolt. "Oh and, I was going through your drinks list in my quarters and I didn't see any cider."

"Like apple cider? Hard cider? What kind are you looking for, and I'll make sure to remedy that," Piper stated, checking on her son for a brief second. With him still asleep, she had more time to conduct business. "We like to keep our patrons happy and add things when they're suggested. That's what helps keep out popularity high."

"Hard cider." Marisa clarified "I like mine tart, though I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority. But" The pilot said with a slightly sly smile "if you can get some in before the day I'll owe you a night or 2 of babysitting if that strikes your fancy."

Piper smiled. "I'll definitely see what I can do for you, then. Is there anything else?"

Marisa shook her head. "Not that I can think of right now. I'll in box you if I think of anything though. Oh, and invoice it out to me."

"I will," Piper assured her. "I'll let you know if we run into any problems, too."

"I'll leave it in your hands then." Marisa said, leaving with a polite wave.
