Mission:
An Orion to Die For
Location: Main Engineering
Timeline: Md 4 || 1100 Hours
Lt. Kramer stood in his office with 10 officers and senior chiefs about him. They had just completed a review of the repairs to the Triumphant, Victorious, and a first look at the Cardassian ship.
Drake spoke up, "She's in fair shape Sir. We checked all the primary and secondary power systems and relays." He smiled and chuckled a little. "It's not a Galaxy Class ship, but she'll make it there."
The Chief Engineer listened intently to the details from LTJG Drake, "I'm glad to hear it Stephen, because you're going to be lead Engineer when she pulls away very soon." He looked to Kawalski, "Michel, you've got the Victorious again. You did fine before. I still have that confidence."
The Chief looked at the faces in his office. He saw no doubt or concern on any of them. "Alright then. Dismissed." He looked to Stephen and Michel, "You two stay."
The officers and senior chiefs filed out of the office. Kawalski and Drake remained behind as instructed. Hey both looked just a touch nervous to Vince. He sat down and reviewed again the details on the Victorious, as the two junior lieutenants moved to stand next to each other across the desk from their Chief.
Vince looked up at the two of them, "I'm still concerned about how those coils became poloraized. Nothing on board, nor during the battle should have caused that to occur. I've still got two techs reviewing the recordings of the battle sequence. Hopefully they will find something that will shed some light on what might have happened."
Michel said confidently, "Don't worry sir. I'm sure we won't have any further issues." He then rubbed his nose and looked to Drake.
Kramer saw 'the tell' and considered that Michel might just be a little too over confident. He then looked at Drake, "Stephen, I don't know how long we will be needing to use that Cardassian ship. It might just be the next few hours. It might be more. So, keep her in good order to perform. I think keeping power to those shields if the highest priority. Although, that may not be her Captain's."
The two Lieutenants looked at each other and then to their Chief.
Vince didn't like long goodbyes, and this just might be a goodbye for one of them. He brought his lips to a firm straight line and then said confidently, "Dismissed and get to your ships quickly."
The two turned and left the Chief Engineer's office.
Vince looked down and sighed. He truly did hope to see them both very soon.
