Reports and More Reports

Mission:
An Orion to Die For
Location: XO's Office
Timeline: MD 3 || 1700 Hours
It had been an interesting day so far...an interrogation and intelligence from the new CAG on top of that. The Analysis Division had gone over the data and had been able to confirm the majority of it. Alex had compiled and ordered it for the report that he now held in his hand. The report that he was due to deliver to the Executive Officer. He shook his head as he stood outside the door to her office. His first two meetings with her had been...well, not quite what he expected. He was somewhat anxious to see what this one would be like. The Intel Chief pressed the chime on the wall panel next to her door.
"Enter!" Maddy called from the other side of the door. She didn't think she'd ever get out of her office, but at least she was able to sit down. Still, the thought of a cold drink and Barnes plagued her thoughts. Alas... both would have to wait for now. Duty always took precedence.
Alex walked in, PADD in hand, and stood before the Commander's desk. "You wanted a report on your desk before the end of the day, Ma'am. I have that report regarding the interrogation and some more information that I has been delivered to us." He handed the PADD to the XO.
"Oh? What do you have for me?" She asked, sounding like a broken record to herself. How many times a day did she ask that very question? She'd lose count if she tried.
He handed her the PADD. "As far as Raimus, you're already aware that he didn't give up much. Not even when I was in head. Though he did spout a name, Melani D'ian. According to Starfleet Intelligence and the way Raimus spoke of her, she is the new head of the Orion Syndicate. Even calls herself the Emerald Empress, indicating that she thinks of the Syndicate as her empire."
"Well... The funny thing about that is delusion. I'm referred to as the Red Queen, but I don't go around cutting the heads off of those that cross me," the Commander pointed out. "She can think whatever she wants to, but fact and fiction plays a huge role here."
"Indeed it does, Commander. That said, Raimus believes that he will be rescued and that we will be dead," said Alex. "If he believes a rescue is being mounted, I recommend we keep our eyes out for anything out of the ordinary or aggressive."
"That's definitely a given. Did Raimus give anything else useful, or was the name it?" Maddy asked, leaning back in her chair, then gesturing for him to settle down. They might be there for a minute, so comfort was in order.
Alex settled into one of the chairs opposite the Commander's desk. "Other than the name, no ma'am, Raimus provided no more useful information. However, the new Air Group Commander provided some information from Starbase K7 where she and her pilots were stationed for border patrol. It seem they ran into slavers quite a bit out there. Slavers that were connected to the Syndicate."
Maddy kept herself from twitching visibly at the mention of their new CAG. It wasn't that she disliked the woman (She didn't know her well enough to make such a call, and hadn't screwed up horribly on the job.), but had everything to do with the fact she had no prior warning to the position being filled. "Interesting. Did she give you details? Any names perhaps?"
"We have several details and, thanks to our Analysis Division we have the names of some of the slaver ship captains," Alex began. "To start with some of the details, once in a while they would get one of the contraband captains to confess their general destination. It was always in this system, but they never gave up a final destination because they didn't have it. Starfleet Intelligence was able to confirm what one of the captains said. Once they broadcasted a pass code in the system, a subspace frequency that would give them the final destination." He paused to let the Commander take it all in, because it was a lot. And he had a little more to provide.
Maddy processed what Alex told her so far. "What else do you have for me?"
Okay, he thought, interesting response... "The ships that fit the profile and were headed here normally had a point of origin somewhere in Romulan territory. And whatever specific system that is, will probably be the hub. The report also listed some of the contraband as drugs and banned weapons."
This just gets better and better, Maddy thought. And to think they were in this part of space in a rather large Federation vessel with nowhere to hide if things went sideways, and she had a feeling that would be the case. Not just because of Raimus, but because of all the illegal activity around them. Someone was bound to get pissed off and try to do something about it. "Is our prisoner directly affiliated with any of this? Or anyone he knows?"
"I believe he knows something about some part of this due to the fact that he's so deep in the Syndicate, Commander," said Alex. "But he isn't talking. At all. Well, other than to say that our heads are going to roll, and so on. On another note, we were also able to get some names of the captains of the slaver and smuggler ships that were specific to the Orion Sector. Vigar, Gaalaz, Mizim, and Jazen are all male Orions that commanded four of the ships. Mara, Neeshka, and Shailaa were female Orions that were second in command on three of them. Mara under Vigar, Neeshka under Gaalaz, and Shailaa under Jazen. But we both know who most likely commanded them." Alex smirked a bit at his last statement.
"It would seem that our special guest down in the brig has some explaining to do, wouldn't it? Perhaps after I speak with the Captain, we'll call her to carpet," the Commander stated, steepling her fingers against her chin. It was no secret she disliked Vashkele, but the more she heard, the more dislike turned to loathing. "You've been quite helpful, Lieutenant, and I take back what I said earlier, too. Keep up the good work. Is there anything else I need to know?"
"Thank you, Commander," said Alex, with a smile and nod of the head. "And as a matter of fact, there is one thing more. The one captain, Mizim, didn't have a female Orion as his second in command. He was a little more forthcoming with Starfleet Intelligence back at K7. We know of two slave holding facilities on Stameris that are for 'special' slaves. One is called Shol'Tar and the other is called Kelshaak. And as for our special guest in holding, I would recommend taking Lieutenant Lischka. When I interrogated Vash, I subtly set the Lieutenant up as someone she would trust enough to speak with...another Intelligence technique. It is my professional opinion that the Lieutenant will prove valuable if you and the Captain speak with Vash."
"I will definitely keep that in mind. Thank you, Mister Rho. If you find out anything else, contact me immediately. Time is not an issue," she said. "If that's all, you're dismissed. And when I say that, I mean enjoy the rest of your day as your own."
"You're welcome, Ma'am. And I will do that." Alex stood and smiled. "Thank you, I fully intend to do enjoy it to it's fullest." He nodded and turned to head out of her office. Then he paused and turned his head, "And you enjoy the rest of your day, Ma'am." With that, he headed out the door.
