Letters to Home 1 - To Talana Communications Command

Posted on Tue Aug 8, 2017 @ 4:25am by Lieutenant Corsa Yeros

To Field Commodore Tyris Yeros and Major Commander Orisa Yeros,

Sir and Ma'am,

I have been transferred from the USS Berlin to the USS Triumphant and have been promoted to a full lieutenancy as well as being risen to Chief Flight Control Officer. Duties as such include helm control, course plotting and advising the commanding officer.

That and a number of other details are some things that I may never get used to on board a Starfleet vessel. Their priorities are different than ours which includes a Promenade; a small strip-mall with shops, bars and clubs. It seems that it's the Federation way to never be without the most extravagant luxuries but even then I'm excited to see what it has to offer in the off-hours.

I know you were both concerned about how I would adapt to a peaceful organisation dedicated to exploration. That's how they see themselves rather than a military force and in some way they are right and in others they are just denying the fact. Uniforms, ranks, protocols and ships carrying enough firepower to sterilise a planet is something Starfleet share with any military despite their protests to the fact.

Yet these are good people and I can't help but feel that I and other Traxians who join Starfleet's ranks will not only teach them about ourselves but learn something about the greater galaxy in the process. After all; it has always been a dream of mine to see what no one else has seen. To go where no one else has gone.

I await your returned correspondence.

Your Son,

Lieutenant (Starfleet) Corsa Yeros
